Alfred Hitchcock Presents…Raquel’s Violin

violin

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra had ten artists paint violins determined by this seasons program selections. I got Hitchcock and it was so cool to work on this project because I love old movies! The money these violins raise will help the symphony’s education programs. So it’s a good cause, good art, good times! If you want to buy a raffle ticket and see some talented artists check it out here http://www.njsymphony.org/SupportNJSO/ArtStrings.htm

Guardian Angels

The Guardian Angels, a not-for-profit organization was founded some thirty-years ago by Curtis Sliwa. This organization is a bull dog in the work they do in the areas of education and community work. Last year, I worked with Mary Sliwa (Curtis’ wife) in creating a brochure on preventing  gang violence in schools, as well as a newsletter and brochure and invite for their 2007 Annual Gala. It’s a great organization to get involved in.

International Design

With the Canadian dollar almost being on par with the US dollar, our neighbors next-door seem like they are enjoying some prosperous times that can not be ignored.  Even before their recent economic upswing, a few years ago I knocked on some of those Canadian doors and was welcomed with the opportunity to work for some well established companies.  First was one of the largest (if not THE largest in Canada) restaurant group, SIR Corp. They range from fine-dining to casual dining.  Great company, and great food!  It was a foot in the door to break into an international market–and it served me well.  Get it, served?  Restaurant group?  OK.  More recently, I gained another Canadian client, Skyline Boutique Hotels.  Skyline owns The Pantages Suites and Cosmopolitan Hotels in Toronto.  Not only are they a great client but they are “Art Conscious”.  What I mean by that is that they truly want to be on the cutting edge of design.  It shows by hiring a design studio like Hit Designs where our roots lie in the design capital of the world New York City.  Their hotels reflect their love of design by incorporating sleek architecture and minimilist style.  They also incorporated the Art of Zen in their decor at the Cosmopolitan.  If you’re ever in Toronto, check out these hotels. www.pantageshotel.com  and  www.cosmotoronto.com
